TEMERLOH, April 13 — The government will build a modern water treatment plant worth RM100 million in Lanchang to resolve the water supply disruptions in the area.

Temerloh Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin said the construction of the water treatment plant in Kampung Mempateh is a long-term measure to resolve the water disruptions in the area resulting from low water pressure.

He said the people of Lanchang who previously received treated water supply from the Mempateh water supply plant and some from other areas still obtained water from the Lubuk Kawah plant 40 kilometres away.

"This causes water pressure to higher ground not reaching the consumers and a new plant is needed to meet the needs of the residents whose numbers are expected to increase once the national furniture hub in Kampung Sempadan opens soon.

"The new plant can meet the needs of 6,000 consumer accounts in Lanchang, Mentakab and new housing areas besides the Felda areas planned nearby,” he said.

Mohd Sharkar was speaking after attending the Moh Ngeteh programme with staff of the Pahang Water Management Berhad here today. — Bernama
