SHAH ALAM, April 9 — Selangor Speaker Hannah Yeoh will notify the Election Commission (EC) regarding the dissolution of the state assembly today, after Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah gave his royal consent this morning.

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the formal notice will be sent by the end of the day to facilitate the EC's planning for concurrent state and federal polls.

Azmin said the Sultan signed the notice of dissolution following a ceremony at the state palace at 10.30am today.

The dissolution is effective today, April 9.

Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced the dissolution of Parliament last week to pave way for the 14th general election.

The EC previously said it was waiting for all the state assemblies to submit their notices of dissolution.

After receiving the notices from all the states except Sarawak, the EC will hold a special meeting to decide on the dates for nominations, postal voting and polling.

The Perak state assembly was also dissolved this morning while the Penang state assembly will officially dissolve tomorrow.
