IPOH, April 9 — A disabled man was found burnt to death in a fire at a house in Taman Menglembu Timur here yesterday.

The body of Chan Kwai Wah, 57, was recovered by firemen near the rear portion of the house.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they received the distress call at around 11.12pm.

"About 40 per cent of the house was damaged in the fire. However, we managed to put out the fire completely at around 1.21am,” he said in a WhatsApp message.    

A medical officer at the scene concluded that Chan could have been trying to escape the burning house.

The house was rented and the man had been living there alone.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
