KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 ― Interim Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has suggested that Bentong in Pahang could become a satellite town of Greater Kuala Lumpur.

Liow who is also Bentong MP said that with the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), interstate commute between the Pahang town and the national capital could be done in 25 minutes, The Star reported on its website today.

"As of now, we already have in place the Central Spine Road project, which will be completed next year,” he was quoted saying.

"The double-track East Coast Rail Link will also have a station in Bentong, shortening the distance between Kuala Lumpur and Bentong to 25 minutes.”

Liow expressed confidence that both the ECRL and the toll-free 411km Central Spine Road will lure more visitors to Bentong and boost its economy.

He also pledged to turn the town into a well-known and sustainable eco-tourism destination.
