SHAH ALAM, March 2 — Umno lawmaker Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim has lodged a police report on claims implicating he had received a bribe from undersea tunnel and three paired roads project contractor, Consortium Zenith Construction Sdn Bhd (CZC).

The Star Online reported that Abdul Azeez denied having any dealings with the special purpose vehicle of the Penang mega project or its senior executive director Datuk Zarul Ahmad Mohd Zulkifli.

The Tabung Haji chairman further said in the report that he received a letter of demand from CZC’s lawyers on Tuesday.

"After discussing with my lawyer, I decided to come here today to make a police report and also urge the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to conduct a thorough investigation.

"As a responsible Malaysian, I am ready to cooperate with the police, MACC or any other authorities.

"I am a victim of name dropping and I hope that this police report puts a full stop to it,” he was quoted saying in the report.

Abdul Azeez also said he had been attacked several times throughout his political career but this was the first time he had to resort to making a police report.

He was accompanied by his lawyer Datuk Seri Jahaberdeen Mohamed Yunoos.

Jahaberdeen said the letter of demand was replied to on Thursday (March 1), stating that the allegations in the letter were fake and CZC has been given four days to retract their allegations and to make an apology, failing which, legal actions would be taken.

However, he declined to elaborate on the contents of the letter of demand as the matter might be taken to court.
