KUNAK, March 2 — The police have found two homemade shotguns or locally known as "bakakuk” believed to have been hidden in some bushes at an oil palm plantation in Jalan Ulu Tingkayu here.

Kunak district police chief Supt Baharin Md Tahir said a team of policemen discovered the firearms during an operation, dubbed ‘Sea Hunter’, about 4.15am on Wednesday.

"The dismantled bakakuks were found under the piles of coconut leaves,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

According to Baharin, the owners of the firearms were believed to have abandoned the bakakuks there following frequent police operations in the area.

The case was being investigated under Section 8(a) of the Firearms Act 1960, he said. — Bernama
