KOTA KINABALU, March 2 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today he is confident the Barisan Nasional will retain Sabah in the 14th General Election but advised party members to work hard to ensure victory for the ruling coalition.
He said BN was now focusing on winning the hearts of the voters and that clear instructions had been given with regard to the task at hand.
"I am confident Sabah will be with BN, but we do not to be complacent or overconfident.
"We still need to work harder,” he said to reporters after delivering a message at a meeting with federal and Sabah public servants here.
Najib said he hoped that the people’s positive response to his visit to Sabah could be translated into the people’s support for BN as the government in GE14.
"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), the response and reaction of the people were most positive. We not only give vision to the people but our track record is unmatched.
"Therefore, the new mandate of the people for us (BN) will ensure that our plans for the people can be fully realised,” he said.
Najib said the BN government had ensured that the people’s requests in Sabah had been fulfilled in terms of economic progress, infrastructure development and security.
He said Sabah had great potential to go forward and the government had plans to ensure that the state had a brighter future.
In terms of security, he said, the government had managed to restore the people’s confidence in security in the east coast of Sabah as a result of the commitment of the security forces on duty there. — Bernama
