MELAKA, March 1 ― Love Harbour Melaka, the first love-themed harbour in Malaysia, targets to hit 1.6 million tourists in Melaka annually upon its completion by this month.
The harbour, which is a collaboration project between Mythas Legacy Sdn Bhd and First Avenue Partners (Asia) Sdn Bhd, plans to invest RM15 million to promote the area.
Mythas Legacy chief executive officer Hedki Heng said that the new harbour will attract tourists across the region, which will boost tourism and economy in Melaka and the country.
"Melaka has witnessed an increase in tourism as it reached 16.7 million [tourists] last year. We target the revenue projection to be RM32 million in the first year, with 80 per cent target take up rate,” he said at the press conference after the harbour’s launch, today.
The Love Harbour began construction in 2015, occupying five acres of land with 100 units.
The harbour will feature classic European architectural design, including boutique hotels, food and beverage establishments, as well as various retailers such as bridal galleries and other specialty shops.
Currently, Mythas Legacy Sdn Bhd is on the lookout for more tenants and businesses in order to grow the Love Harbour, which is expected to officially launch in August this year.
"We are targeting relevant tenants and businesses that can add more value to the growth of Love Harbour Melaka,” Heng added.
