PETALING JAYA, Feb 28 — A motorcyclist was killed and a pillion rider injured after their motorcycle collided with a tour bus that lost control at Jalan Genting near Batang Kali today.
Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent Lim Bak Phai said an express bus from Genting Highland to Pulau Pinang had earlier noticed another bus behind losing control in its rear mirror and decided to stop by the road shoulder to let it pass around 1.35pm.
"The bus that lost control also scratched the stationary bus before entering to the opposing lane.
"A motorcycle could not evade in time and struck the oncoming bus,” he said.
Lim said the motorcyclist and its passenger were then dragged underneath the bus until it came to a halt in a drainage ditch.
The deceased was identified as 50-year-old Suri Cheng Hong who died at the scene and the pillion rider was identified as A. Mala, 45 who was taken to Hospital Kuala Kubu Bahru for medical treatment.
Despite the crash, a total of 46 passengers and two bus drivers from both buses escaped unscathed from the incident.
