PETALING JAYA, Feb 23 ― Sunway Lagoon Malaysia said today it has resolved the harassment complaint by Filipino celebrity Ruffa Gutierrez and her children, following public outcry.

In a press statement, the water theme park said it views such incidents seriously, and reiterated its stance in providing family-friendly and safe environment for all.

"As a family-friendly theme park, Sunway Lagoon does and will not tolerate any unruly behavior on the premises.

"The safety and security of guests has and always will be of utmost priority,” it said, adding that it will continue to provide updates to relevant parties and facilitate any inquiries on the matter.

It said the park has hosted many other local and international celebrities over the years, such as Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, Amber Chia, Harith Iskander, K-pop group In2It, and former English footballer Danny Mills.

"Sunway Lagoon takes immense pride in providing a fun, comfortable and most importantly, safe environment for all our visitors, with our numerous local and international awards acting as a testament to this,” it said.

Last week on Twitter, Gutierrez had thanked Sunway Lagoon’s general manager Calvin Ho for reaching out to her.

On Thursday last week, the 43-year old former beauty queen and her daughters Lorin Gabriella, 15, and Venice Bektas, 14, were visiting Sunway Lagoon when a group of men began catcalling them and snapping their photos.

The group allegedly became more aggressive when her friends warned them to stop harassing the family.

Gutierrez clarified to Malay Mail that they had requested for security to escort them to their car following the incident. She added that it was the most stressful day of her life.
