KAMPAR, Feb 23 ― An internal investigation has been initiated by the district police against its MPV and URB personnel over an incident which went viral on social media.

District police chief Superintendent Ng Kong Soon said a report had been lodged at 8.30pm yesterday by one of the police officers accused of misconduct.

"According to the (social media) post, the man had expressed his unhappiness against police after he was treated rudely during a road block at Jalan Baru Malim Nawar ― Bandar Baru Kampar at 10.15am.

The post, which was made on Thursday, had since gone viral," he said in a statement.

Initial investigations revealed that the man was stopped by police as he failed to put on the seatbelt.

"Policemen manning the roadblock let the man off the hook with a warning after the man threw a fit when stopped," said Ng.

"However, before leaving, the man used his smart phone to record the pictures of the policemen involved and uploaded it onto his Facebook," added Ng.

Ng noted that the policemen involved did not have any previous disciplinary record.

Ng also said the police will be calling the man, who posted about the incident, in for questioning.

He also urged the piblic to stop sharing the post until further investigations have been completed.
