KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 — Opportunities for job promotions and a quota increase in the civil service and institutions of higher learning are among the aspirations raised by women from the Indian community through the 2050 National Transformation (TN50) dialogue held here, last night.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the aspiration had received the attention and support of more than 1,000 participants during the dialogue.

"Among the aspirations raised was the quota for the Indian community in the Government, which needs to be increased, and some of the women also complained that their children, despite achieving excellent academic results, could not get a place to pursue their field of choice at public universities.

"In addition, they also seek grade promotion for those who have improved their academic qualification from diploma to degree while in service,” he told reporters after attending the TN50 dialogue session held at Mahsa University auditorium at Jalan Universiti, here.

The MIC president said he would look into all the aspirations and proposals raised before bringing them up with the parties involved for further enhancement. — Bernama
