KUCHING, Feb 21 — Two Sarawak football players and a man suspected to be a ‘bookie’, who were in remand to facilitate investigations into match-fixing, have been ordered released by the Magistrate’s Court here today.

Magistrate Sandy Yvette  Freddy ordered their release on bail by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The three men were detained by MACC last Feb 14 and were ordered to be in remand for six days, which expired today.

In a statement last week,  the Sarawak Football Association said it was conducting an internal investigation after receiving reports on players involved in match-fixing activities.

Investigations were underway following Sarawak’s 2-3 defeat to Felcra FC in the Premier League match last Saturday, although the Sarawak team was leading 2-0 in the first-half. — Bernama
