BENTONG, Feb 19 — MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai is ready to face DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang if it is true that the Gelang Patah MP intends to contest in Bentong.

Liow said as a people’s representative who had done good work in the constituency since 1999, he was confident of the continued support of the voters there.

"Lim Kit Siang is fond of jumping from one place to another... first in Penang, then to Gelang Patah (Johor), all did not last long because he did not give good service... that is why we do not care where he wants to go, it does not matter if he wants to come here (to contest). We are ready to face him,” he told reporters after attending a Chinese New Year celebration at Batu 1 Flats, Jalan Tras here today.

He said the people were aware that Lim did not just fail as a people’s representative in the places he won, but also did not have a definite stand in politics.

"The people are also confused how Lim Kit Siang who was so angry with (Tun) Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) more than 22 years ago, can now hug him, and how Dr Mahathir can do likewise.

"This is purely a show put up to get the support of the people, both of them praising each other to clean up their previous images,” added Liow. — Bernama
