KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 — Police must inform Raymond Koh's family of progress in the investigation on his abduction, said his wife when criticising the "silence” they received in the year since his disappearance.

In an angry message on the anniversary of Koh's abduction, Susanna Liew said the family's grief and sadness were compounded by their treatment from the authorities.

Liew also questioned the sudden prosecution last month of a part-time driver Lam Chang Nam for Koh's abduction, which disrupted the Human Rights Commission’s (Suhakam) inquiry into his disappearance.

"If he (Lam) really is involved, then he should know where Raymond is now. Bring him out and let the perpetrators be apprehended and justice served,” she said in a statement.

"But we are met with SILENCE, SILENCE and more SILENCE.”

Liew said she will hold Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun to his pledge to look into Koh's abduction, and said the family retained faith in the police's integrity and professionalism despite the many disappointments.

Koh's case also needed swift resolution to safeguard multicultural Malaysia's image before the world, Liew said when reminding authorities of the international attention on the matter.

Liew then thanked Malaysians who have shown their support as well as organisations such as the Human Rights Commission and CAGED that have also taken up the case.

Koh was abducted a year ago today in broad daylight on a public road near his home in Petaling Jaya, with his kidnapping captured by surveillance cameras.

Part-time driver Lam Chang Nam, who claimed trial to extorting Koh’s son last year, was charged last month at Petaling Jaya magistrate’s court with Koh’s abduction.
