KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 — The Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) and the police have launched Pink Angels, a volunteer group aimed at spreading crime prevention awareness among children and teenagers.

City police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the group will focus on crime prevention in both age categories.

"This is a special relationship for me as we have more means of combating crime among the grassroots level around the city,” he said at the MCPF, police and media get-together dinner held at TPC Kuala Lumpur earlier this evening.

He said Pink Angels members comprised university and college students participating on a voluntary basis.

Currently, the group has 13 members, 10 normal members and three committee members that were made up of an advisor, a supervisor and a patron.

Mazlan said crime prevention workshops and seminars will be organised by the group as part of their approach.

"We want to start slow and from humble beginnings before we expand further,” he said.
