"We take a serious view on this case and we hope the local authorities will investigate it,” she said when contacted.

She was commenting on the death of Adelina yesterday after the latter was brought to the hospital on Saturday with injuries from alleged abuse.

Adelina’s plight came to light when Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim’s office received a tip off from the public and visited her employer’s home at Medan Kota Permai 2 in Bukit Mertajam.

Sim’s aides found the maid sitting alone outside on the porch of the house but could not get a response from her.

Sim’s aide lodged a police report when the employer refused to cooperate with them.

Adelina, who had bruises on her face and wounds on her hands and legs, was rescued by the police and sent to the Bukit Mertajam Hospital.

She died at around 4.30pm yesterday while the police has since arrested two suspects in connection with the case.

The suspects was remanded until February 14 and police are investigating the case for murder.
