Court administrative assistant charged with assaulting workmate

TELUK INTAN, Feb 12 — A court clerical and operations administrative assistant was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with assaulting and using criminal force on a workmate, two years ago.

Muhammad Saidi Afandi, 30, pleaded guilty to kicking a chair and throwing a shoe and book at Nor Ikhwan Mohamed Yusof, 33, at the Teluk Intan Court office at 8.30am on Nov 1, 2016.

The charge under Section 352 of the Penal Code, carries a jail sentence which may extend to three months or a fine of up to RM1,000, or with both, on conviction.

Magistrate Syahdatul Kamilah Zakaria set RM1,000 as bail with one surety, and March 12 for remention, pending further instructions from the Federal Court chief registrar on whether the conviction and sentencing be executed by the Teluk Intan magistrate’s court or by a different magistrate from another court.

Prosecuting officer Insp Tie Ngie Seng appeared for the prosecution while Muhammad Saidi was unrepresented. — Bernama
