PETALING JAYA, Feb 11 — Several supermarket staff escaped unscathed in an armed robbery today that saw over RM4,000 stolen.

Sungai Buloh police chief Superintendent S. Somu said police was alerted to the robbery at Jaya Grocer Supermarket in Valencia, Sungai Buloh, after a woman made an emergency call at around 11.25am.

"Witnesses claimed two unidentified suspects wearing full face helmets fired two shots towards the interior and closed-circuit television cameras before committing the robbery,” he said.

Somu said the suspects then fled with two cash register drawers, believed to contain around RM4,000 in cash, on a motorcycle fitted with fake number plates.

He said there were three cashiers, an unarmed security guard and a customer when the robbers entered the outlet.

During the incident, the woman customer who was making payment also had her wallet with RM300 inside and personal documents stolen. She has since lodged a report.

Police forensics found two shell casings and two bullets while combing the scene.
