BENTONG, Feb 10 — The Ministry of Transport (MOT) will not protect officers or staff from any of its enforcement agencies who committed a violation of work ethics and discipline, including sexual harassment.

As such, Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai called on members of the public who had witnessed or had fallen victims to such violation of ethics and discipline to come forward and lodge a report so that appropriate action could be taken against the personnel involved.

"The ministry will not protect or compromise with those who tarnish the image of the enforcement agency,” he told a press conference after attending Anih Berhad’s Charity Visit Programme at Bentong Hospital here today.

Liow said this in reponse to the viral allegation involving a Road Transport Department (RTD) officer who allegedly committed a sexual harassment against a teenage girl during a driving test recently.

The girl claimed that the officer had been expelled after her father lodged a report and her post about the incident on Twitter had prompted several female netizens to share similar experience.

However, a report published on a news portal quoted RTD deputy director-general Datuk Wan Ahmad Uzir Wan Sulaiman as saying that the officer was not expelled but transferred to other division pending investigations. — Bernama
