KUCHING, Feb 10 — The flood situation in Sarawak is improving following good weather since yesterday with 2,037 evacuees from 566 families are still at 10 relief centres  in five divisions in the state as of noon today.

There were 3,092 flood evacuees reported at 14 relief centres in the morning.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee Secretariat spokesman said the flood victims were in Serian (453 people), Sarikei (eight), Sibu (823), Mukah (107) and Bintulu (646).

To date, four relief centres had been closed, comprising in Sibu ( Dewan SJK (C) Cheng Hua), Bintulu (Dewan Suarah Bintulu), Limbang (Dewan Buluh Baloi) and Serian (Dewan Kampung Balai Ringin).

Meanwhile, the Sarawak Education Department, in a statement, said that 47 schools, involving 4,215 students, 624 teachers and 279 support staff, were still affected by floods. — Bernama
