Cabinet agrees with proposed structure of national cost of living action council

LARUT, Feb 10 — The Cabinet has agreed with the proposed structure of the National Cost of Living Action Council submitted by the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry.

Its Minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said as such, he would seek the consent of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on the meeting date to discuss the setting up of the council.

"The meeting, to be attended by the relevant ministers, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and academicians will discuss in detail about the council,” he told a press conference here today.

The council will focus on five clusters, namely education, transport, utilities, housing, food and beverage.

Hamzah said each cluster would be chaired by the secretary-general of the ministries concerned.

In another development, Hamzah said over 106 People’s Sales Carnival had been held nationwide until last Wednesday which drew about 500,000 visitors. — Bernama
