KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 ― Police have detained a popular actor, after he tested positive for ganja.

Sofi Jikan, who rose to fame after his role in local blockbuster KL Gangster, was arrested at the Mutiara Damansara police station, when he arrived to have his statement recorded after a police report was lodged against him by actor-director Datuk Farid Kamil Zahari.

News portal Kosmo Online reported that Sofi will be brought to the Petaling Jaya court today, to have a remand order issued on him.

According to his January 31 report sighted by Malay Mail, the 36-year-old Farid had accused three fellow artistes by name of drugging and causing the conditions that led to his altercation at the Kota Damansara station.

In the report lodged at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail police station, Farid also accused the police of abuse while he was in remand over the alleged assault against a policeman and a civilian at another police station last month.

Among others, he said he was not in full possession of his mental faculties at the time, claiming his drink had been spiked by the trio a day before the incident.

On January 11, Farid was arrested for allegedly attacking a policeman and a civilian at the Kota Damansara traffic police station.

On January 16, he was charged at the magistrate’s court here with two counts of voluntarily causing hurt, and one count each for disorderly conduct and obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duty.

The court granted him RM12,000 bail with one surety for all the charges.

On January 25, he was again charged at the magistrate’s court with consuming cannabis, and was allowed bail at RM4,000.
