KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 — The man who drove a woman’s body to a police station after he claimed to have murdered her, whom he termed his girlfriend, was not known to the victim’s family, they said.
The Star Online reported that no one from D. Tharsini’s family had heard of the 37-year-old suspect.
"We have never even heard of him. As far as we know, she was not seeing anyone,” the victim’s cousin, who only wanted to be known as Malar, was quoted as saying.
Another family member reportedly said Tharsini barely went out except for work, as the victim loved to stay at home with her four dogs.
"Apparently, the man was her co-worker in her office. Maybe it was a one-sided relationship," the relative was quoted as saying.
Petaling Jaya police said the suspect drove to the Damansara police station this afternoon with the victim’s body beside him and confessed to killing her in a car parked at a shopping centre in Kota Damansara. The 35-year-old woman was his colleague at a condominium’s management office.
Police believe the victim was stabbed in the neck with a sharp object. They recovered the suspected murder weapon from the car.
They said the motive for the murder was not known and the suspect had been acquainted with the victim for at least two years.
