KUCHING, Feb 5 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a yellow alert weather warning following forecast of heavy rain in the state from today until Wednesday.

A Sarawak Disaster Management Committee Secretariat spokesman said heavy rain was expected in Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri and Kapit (Song district, Kapit and Belaga).

"In this regard, all Divisional Disaster Operation Rooms, especially in high-risk areas are ready to be activated at any time for disaster preparedness, to face floods and landslides,” he said in a statement here today.
