PERAK TENGAH, Feb 2 — Police will dispose of a World War II bomb here later today, and advised the public not to be alarmed by the sound of the explosion.
District police chief Superintendent Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the bomb, estimated to weigh some 450kg, was uncovered at 5.30pm yesterday.
"It was discovered by a member of public at an oil palm plantation near Bandar Universiti,” he said in a statement.
Zainal said the ordnance would be destroyed at site before Friday prayers.
"As such, people staying in the vicinity do take note as the vibration could be felt within 1km radius,” he said.
He added that a 1.5km radius around the detonation zone would be evacuated.
The police will also erect a barrier measuring 2.1m high and 0.9m thick to contain the blast.
