PETALING JAYA, Feb 1 — Indian police arrested and remanded a man for allegedly outraging the modesty of a popular Tamil movie actress shortly before she was to visit Malaysia.

The Times of India reported he was arrested shortly after actress Amala Paul lodged a police report in Chennai.

The man had gone to the dance school to see Amala where he introduced himself and asked if she was visiting Malaysia for a programme.

When she said yes, he inquired about her itinerary and tried soliciting her attendance for a party thrown by a "private person” at his guest house in Kuala Lumpur.

Suspecting something, she yelled at him and later lodged the report.

When questioned, the man said a friend told him a businessman would be throwing a party for Amala in Malaysia and that she agreed to attend.

He claimed the businessman gave him the actress’s number for him to confirm her attendance.

The man also claimed Amala’s manager asked him to meet her at the dance school, which the manager denied.
