PETALING JAYA, Jan 30 — Twelve bottles of blackcurrant-flavoured drink, believed to have been spiked with Ecstasy, were among RM6,000 worth of drugs seized by police in Seri Kembangan, Selangor last Saturday.
Police also arrested two men and woman, all in their 20s, at separate locations in Serdang and Seri Kembangan.
Besides the drink bottles, 15 Ecstasy pills and four drink sachets allegedly containing the powdered drug were also seized.
The laced drink sachets were believed to be delivered to customers at several entertainment spots in the district.
Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said police impounded the items after arresting a man in Taman Sg Besi Indah.
"Officers seized the drinks sachets from the suspect, and further investigations led to the couple’s arrest in Seri Kembangan.
"From the duo, the narcotics officers seized pills and drugged bottled drinks,” Megat said.
Besides the drugs, police also seized two cars supposedly used to transport the drugs to intended customers.
Megat said the case would be investigated under Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (1952), which carries a death sentence upon conviction.
He advised the public, especially the youth, to be cautious when patronising entertainment outlets and be wary of drug abuse at such premises.
"Be careful, and keep a lookout to avoid falling prey to such tactics of drug distribution and abuse when out partying,” he said.
Megat said police would continue to carry out operations while collecting intelligence to cripple such drug distribution activities.
"We always urge members of the public to come forward and give us any relevant information to help us get rid of such activities,” he said.
