KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 24 — Five people initially shortlisted as probable suspects were ruled out as police continue their investigation to establish the culprit behind the murder of 15-year-old S. Satiswaran, killed by a falling office chair last week.  

Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department Chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Rusdi Md Isa said from the 43 individuals whose statement were recorded, the police had narrowed them down to just five who were investigated further.

"They are all from one family, and were the closest to the scene during the incident, but our investigations later revealed negative results.

"We even ran a distress voice analysis, something similar to a polygraph lie test, which also turned out negative,” he said.

Rusdi said police are still waiting for test results from DNA lifted from the office chair that killed the student when it landed on him after being thrown off an apartment in Pantai Dalam last Monday.

Rusdi said investigations would continue in full swing once they obtain the DNA results.

"We are waiting for the DNA results to come back, to test it against the evidence we have collected. We expect to receive the DNA report within the next few days,” he said.

Last Monday, Satiswaran, a student of SMK La Salle in Petaling Jaya, died on the spot after a chair struck him on the head as he was walking home with his mother MS Kasthuribai, 45, who was also hit.

Rusdi then urged the public to come forward should they have any credible information.

"Even if it is a small lead, we will work on it and try to develop to solve the case,” he said.
