PUTRAJAYA, Jan 24 — The police have confirmed that three individuals were involved in the arson attack on the home of a high-ranking Customs official here in the wee hours of yesterday.

City police chief Commissioner Datuk Mazlan Lazim said today the police reached the conclusion after obtaining statements from witnesses nearby.

"We will examine closed-circuit television cameras in the residential area to obtain more clues such as the suspects’ escape vehicles,” he said to reporters at the crime scene here.

He said the police were conducting a full investigation and urged witnesses with information to come forward.

In the 3.30am incident, suspected arsonists torched four cars belonging to principal assistant director Nor Azman Mat Jini, 59, at his home in Jalan P11/1 in Precinct 11, Putrajaya.

Nor Azman is with the Royal Malaysian Customs Goods and Services Tax Enforcement Division.

The attack was the second involving a senior Customs officer — department deputy director-general Datuk Shaharuddin Ibrahim was gunned down in broad daylight in 2013, also in Putrajaya.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has earlier today expressed confidence that Customs personnel will not succumb to pressure or threats in carrying out their duties, following the attack.
