Factory worker who threatens wife with crow bar jailed, fined

PETALING JAYA, Jan 23 — A factory worker was sentenced to five days’ jail and fined RM5,000, in default five days’ jail, by the Magistrate’s Court here today for threatening his wife with a crow bar.

Magistrate Nurulhuda Zakariya handed down the sentence on Mohd Fauzi Ismail, 36, who pleaded guilty to the charge.

He was ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of arrest, which was last Jan 18.

Mohd Fauzi , who has five children, was charged with criminally intimidating his wife, Hasni Muhammad, 36, with a crow bar in his hand.

The offence was committed at at a house in Lorong Aman 1, Kg Seri Aman Dalam, Bukit Puchong, here, at 8.30 pm last Jan 17.

The charge, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to seven years and fine, or fine, or both, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Natasha Chin Le Jy prosecuted, while Mohd Fauzi was unrepresented. — Bernama
