MUALLIM (Perak), Jan 21 — Two friends, on their way to buy food at Tanjung Malim, were killed instantly when their motorcycle crashed into a divider at Km 376.5 of the North-South Expressway near here.
District police chief superintendent Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusuf said the two have been identified as Mohd Hairric Mohd Hafiz Chandar, 28, and Mohd Syazwan Naim Mohd Sandradee, 26.
Wan Kamarul said initial investigations showed the victims were headed to Tanjung Malim from Tapah in the 3.40pm incident.
"Mohd Hairric had lost control of his Honda RS150R and crashed onto the highway divider,” he said in a Whatsapp message.
Mohd Hairric was thrown on to the middle of the highway while Mohd Syazwan ended in the divider area.
"They were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Slim River Hospital,” added Wan Kamarul, noting that their bodies have been sent to the hospital for post-mortem.
"We will sending their blood samples for toxicology tests,” said Wan Kamarul.
