KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) will be allocated 18 out of 56 state seats in Johor to contest in the next general election, a source from Pakatan Harapan confirmed today.
The source told Malay Mail that DAP will be allocated 14 seats, while PKR and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) will only be given 12 seats each in the state.
"Yes, that is correct. PPBM will get 18 seat. That is final, but it will be formally announced at the Johor Pakatan Convention,” the source said.
Asked if Johor Amanah agreed to the smaller share in seat allocations, the source said it was "done out of goodwill and for the benefit of the people”.
When contacted, PPBM strategist and supreme council member Datuk Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff confirmed that seat negotiation in Johor had been concluded.
He, however, did not divulge further information about the seat allocation or if PPBM would be getting the most number of Johor seats to contest in GE14.
"[We] must compliment the excellent stewardship of the negotiations by all party representatives.
"It is indeed a new dawn of political renaissance in Johor. Once this seat negotiation agreement is endorsed at PH Presidential Council by the end of the month, it will be disclosed at the Johor PH Convention,” he said.
Johor Amanah had earlier boycotted the PH national convention in Shah Alam held earlier this month after the party only received two out of the five MP seats it had requested.
It was recently pointed to Malay Mail that PPBM was gunning for leadership in four states, namely Kedah, Perlis, Perak and Johor.
