KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — Kuala Lumpur Mayor Tan Sri Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz said city folks need to accept the reality that there will be more high rise residential developments as it is inevitable in any developing city.
"Now we have 1.8 million people in the city. When we reach three million, we will see more high rise residential buildings with smaller unit size but expensive,” he said citing examples of Hong Kong, Shenzhen in China and New York.
Mhd Amin was responding to reports about city folks being unhappy about growing high rise developments.
He said all major cities in the world have very little open land.
"Ten years from now, the landscape will have to change as there will be more people moving to the city.
"That’s how the future of the city will be like so we will have to change our mindset.
"The day will come where we need to only use public transport,” he said after a media briefing this morning on the preparations for Federal Territory Day celebrations.
