One school in Sarawak closes temporarily due to flood

MIRI, Jan 12 ― Sarawak had to temporarily close one of its schools, Sekolah  Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Kelabit in Miri, after flood water inundated its compound.

The State Disaster Management Committee said today that the affected surroundings included the school field, teachers quarters, generator shed and preschool.

The path to the school which has a population of 19 pupils, seven teachers and two administrative staff was also risky to use, it said in a statement.

It said four other schools, SK Kuala Kenyana, SK Kuala Bok, SK Sungai Bong and SK Sungai Anak were also affected by flood but able to operate. ― Bernama
