Incessant rain aggravates Pahang flood

KUANTAN, Jan 12 ― Incessant rain for two days aggravated the flood situation in Pahang necessitating the opening of another evacuation centre in Rompin district, early today.

As at 8am, the number of flood victims stood at 357 people, compared to 318 last night, after 39 people moved to the centre at Dewan Orang  Ramai Leban Chondong.

Pahang Civil Defence director, Col Zainal Yusof said when contacted that 64 people were still staying at the centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tekek, Pulau Tioman.

In Pekan, the number of residents sheltered at five centres due to stagnant floodwater remains at 254.

The residents are staying at SK Temai (93), Kampung Pulau Manis (75), Balai Raya Kampung Tanjung Pulai (39), SK Acheh (nine) and Kampung Lamir (38). ― Reuters
