SHAH ALAM, Jan 7 — The Johor chapter of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has refused to take part in Pakatan Harapan's convention here today over unhappiness with seat allocations in their state, its leader said today.

Johor Amanah chief Aminolhuda Hassan said they were upset that the Islamist party was only given two parliamentary seats out of the 26 to be contested in the state.

"We asked for five seats but we only obtained two seats. Only Parit Sulong and Pulai,” he said outside the convention venue today.

"We don’t have to attend (the convention). All Johor Amanah leaders don’t have to attend,” he added.

The development will be of concern to the federal Opposition pact that considers the southern state to be a key battleground in the 14th general election.

According to a report in The Malaysian Insight news portal, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) was allocated most of the seats in Johor among the four PH components.

The portal claimed that PPBM will contest 10 seats, followed by PKR with eight, six for DAP six and two for Amanah.

PPBM is by far the youngest and least represented party among the four allies, but its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was also made the head of the PH pact.

The report said that seat negotiations among the four PH components were settled in a meeting yesterday.
