KLUANG, Dec 17 — It would be detrimental to the nation if DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang becomes prime minister said MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

The Transport Minister claimed that Kit Siang was an unprincipled politician and clever at sowing racial discord,

"Only he knows if he has ambitions of becoming prime minister or deputy prime minister. I would say that he is a politician who cannot be trusted and will cause racial disharmony,” Liow told reporters after attending a community event in Paloh here today.

Liow was commenting on remarks by PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang that the people should reject the DAP leader whom he said aspired to become prime minister.

Last week, former Jawi assemblyman and former DAP member Tan Beng Huat claimed that there was talk within DAP that Lim harboured hopes of becoming prime minister, although he has denied it.

Earlier, in his speech, Liow urged the people to support the MCA and Barisan Nasional (BN) for the sake of the country’s development and racial harmony. — Bernama
