KANGAR, Dec 3 — The flood situation in Perlis is improving as of 8 pm tonight with only several areas in Kangar and Padang Besar still under water.

The Perlis Civil Defence Force said Paya, Padang Melangit and Kampung Padang Malau in Padang Besar have yet to fully recover from the floods after a nearby river burst its banks.

"Several houses in Kampung Belanga Pudak in Kangar are under water and periodical monitorings are conducted by the Civil Defence Force at high risk area.”

The statement said that monitoring of rivers also showed that their water levels had returned to normal.

The number of flood victims at the relief centre at Mara Junior Science College in Beseri remained at 20 people from eight families. — Bernama
