Kelantan floods: 50 Kampung Limau Kasturi residents move to nearby hill

GUA MUSANG, Dec 1 ― Fifty people from 11 families in Kampung Limau Kasturi here, sought shelter at a nearby hill last night when the water level in Sungai Galas rose drastically following heavy rain.

Kampung Limau Kasturi Federal Village Development and Security Committee chairman Mohd Skoni Mat said the villagers moved to the hill at 8pm.

"The residents were not able to move to the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Limau Kasturi 2, which is located quite far from the village as the route had been cut off by flood,” he told reporters here today.

He said some residents had moved to a raft house they had built earlier in preparation for the flood.

Meanwhile, Paloh State Assemblyman Datuk Nozula Mat Diah advised residents to shift temporarily to the evacuation centres.

"If they move elsewhere instead of to the centres, it would hinder the authorities’ efforts to provide assistance, particularly if they are on a hill,” he said. ― Bernama
