SHAH ALAM, Dec 1 ― A government retiree died in Shah Alam Hospital after participating in the Selangor level Maulidur Rasul procession at Malawati Stadium here today.

Dr Wan Aminuddin Wan Ab Hamid, 61, a former public university lecturer who was representing the Malaysian Government Retirees Association (PPKM) marched with 93 other contingents from Section 13 Mini Stadium to the celebration venue at 8.30am.

Relating the incident, PPKM contingent head Mohd Yunos Abdul Rahman said his friend looked pale when he sat down beside him in the stadium after the 1.8km walk.

"As he was looked weak, several other friends and I sought the assistance of a medical personnel and he was rushed to HSA in an ambulance.

"However, at around 10am, he was pronounced dead by a medical officer at the hospital,” he told reporters when met at HSA here.

Meanwhile, the wife of the late retiree, Zuraida Abdul Rahman, 63, when met said her husband was suffering from high blood pressure. ― Bernama
