IPOH, Nov 29 — Authorities have urged motorists to take extra precaution on the Gerik-Jeli Highway following a minor landslide in the area.

Perak state public utilities, infrastructure, energy and water committee chairman Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin said the landslide at Section 189 of the highway yesterday was due to rainy weather.

"The area of the landslide is just 7Km from the Titiwangsa rest area. The concessionaires are cleaning up the road at the moment.

"We have erected warning sign board and open one lane to allow motorists to pass as no alternative road available in the area,” he said.

The incident took place around 6pm yesterday and was the third reported case in three months.

The previous two were at KM140 on September 23 and October 3.
