PADANG BESAR, Nov 28 ― Perlis was struck last night by the floods which affected 46 houses in the Padang Besar district, forcing some of the occupants to evacuate.

The Perlis Civil Defence Force, which doubles up as the State Disaster Management Committee secretariat, said today 26 houses in Kampung Padang Malau and 20 in Kampung Padang Malau Dalam were affected by the floods.

It said in a statement that the actual number of flood victims was being compiled as some of them declined to evacuate and leave their homes unattended.

It advised people in flood-prone areas to abide by the instructions of the authorities and evacuate when ordered to do so. ― Bernama
