KUCHING, Nov 22 — Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) will start supplying power to Sabah once the transmission line from Murum dam to Lawas is completed in 2021, chief executive officer Sharbini Suhaili said today.

"By next year, we hope to have some exchange of documents with Sabah, then we will develop the transmission line,” he told reporters after presenting a paper on hydropower development and community engagement programmes in Sarawak at the 13th World Islamic Economic Forum here.

Sharbini said SEB will also increase supply to West Kalimantan to 230MW next year, from the present 150MW.

He said the power supplied to Sabah and West Kalimantan would be less than 4 per cent of the total capacity of SEB, but was good for diversification.

Sharbini said talks were also ongoing with Brunei for SEB to supply power to the sultanate.
