SELAMA, Nov 18 — Malaysia’s impressive third quarter economic growth demonstrates that the government’s policies are working, said Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

The domestic trade, consumerism and cooperatives minister said the result also dismantled the Opposition’s claim that the country was headed towards bankruptcy.

"This shows the prime minister’s policies to stimulate the domestic economy has borne fruit,” he told reporters after a visit to Felda Ijok here yesterday.

"The economy has been increasing in each quarter this year, and we pray that the fourth quarter will produce even more GDP growth.”

Bank Negara Malaysia announced yesterday that the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) expanded by 6.2 per cent in the third quarter of 2017, or the fastest since the second quarter of 2014.
