ALOR SETAR, Nov 17 — The number of flood evacuees in Kedah dropped to 839 as at noon compared to 930 this morning as the state experienced fine weather.

Kubang Pasu Civil Defence Force officer Capt (PA) Kamalruzamal Kasa said the 839 people from 212 families were being housed at six evacuation centres in Kubang Pasu and Kota Setar.

Providing a breakdown, he said three of the centres were in Jitra, with 222 evacuees at the Dewan Kubur Siam relief centre, 50 at Dewan Tokong Cina and 182 at Dewan Jitra.

The number of evacuees at the Kampung Lahar relief centre remained at 130 while 204 were at Dewan Kampung Bata in the sub-district of Malau.

An evacuation centre at Surau Assyakirin, Kepala Batas, had 51 victims from 14 families. — Bernama
