KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 ― The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) confirmed that the EPF savings account belonging to a woman named Tan Swee Gek which reportedly had a problem, was secure and the nomination was in order.

Yesterday, Yong Kim Leong, husband of the 55-year-old woman from Nilai, Negri Sembilan, claimed that Tan’s EPF account number was shared with another contributor who was also named as a beneficiary in his wife’s account, along with Yong’s name and the couple’s son.

"EPF's investigation found Tan’s EPF savings secured and updated to the latest contribution month and the nominations made in 2012 are still valid and in effect,” according to an EPF statement yesterday. An allegation that a Malay man from Kelantan had been registered as Tan’s EPF savings nominee is not true,” said EPF.

The statement said the EPF had contacted the couple to explain the issues raised together with all documentary evidence on the accounts and nomination.

"EPF regret the inconveniences and worries gone through by Yong and his wife,” said the statement, adding that the EPF was always concerned about the integrity of its data.

"The EPF will automatically freeze member’s account upon detecting any data uncertainty to ensure members’ savings remained intact,” the statement said. ― Bernama
