KLUANG, Nov 8 — Firemen were called in to assist seven Form Five students that were about to sit for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations after they were stranded in a flash flood in Ladang Mutiara near Kahang here today.

Firemen from the Kluang Fire and Rescue Station were called in to assist the three male and four female students to their examination centre using a lorry after the road leading to their homes were cut off due to the flood waters the night before.

Kluang Fire and Rescue Department chief Akob Sidek said they received a call at 6.30am requesting for assistance and immediately mobilised a team to the location.

"The team arrived with a lorry to transport the stranded students out of Ladang Mutiara at 7.20am.

"The red laterite road was inundated with water due to last night’s heavy rain and was not passable to light vehicles,” he said.

Akob said that all seven students made it in time to their school for their examinations.
