ALOR SETAR, Nov 7 — The number of flood victims in Kedah has declined to 442 people as of 4pm compared to 982 recorded this morning.
State Civil Defence director Lt Kol (PA) Mohd Zul Khairi Shamsuddin said all the victims from 112 families were sheltered at nine relief centres in Kuala Muda, Kulim, Baling and Pendang.
In Kuala Muda, five relief centres remained open at Taman Malinja surau (15 people), Kampung Bujang Hall (86 people), Kampung Sungai Pial Hall (six people), Kampung Jilid 4/5 Hall (12 people) and Taman Setia Budi Hall (55 people).
In Kulim, two relief centres are open at Teluk Binu surau which accommodated 42 victims while 31 people are seeking shelter at the Kampung Baru Jemerli surau which was reopened.
Meanwhile one relief centre is opened at Baling in Kuala Bakong Mosque which accomodated eight people and another relief centre in Pendang at Seminar Hall with 187 victims.
Following an improvement in the weather and receding water levels, many victims were allowed to return to their homes. — Bernama
