Penang flood victims no longer need food

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Flood victims in Penang no longer need food donations and are now appealing for cash, cleaning items, lorries to clear debris and volunteers to clean homes, DAP Penang said today.

DAP Penang state secretary Lim Hui Ying said Penangites have pulled together over the weekend after massive floods hit the state, killing seven people.

"Thanks to generous and swift response of kind donors we have received an overwhelming amount of food items.

"It is more than sufficient for distribution to flood victims at the moment,” Lim said in a statement.

Well-wishers who want to donate to the Penang Storm and Flood Relief Fund can make cheques payable to DAP Penang at No.3, Jalan Rangoon, Georgetown or bank in to DAP Penang (Maybank 5070-1301-4596).

She said all donations will be handed over to the state government for distribution.
